Homefoodi, An E-Commerce Startup Of Husband-Wife Duo To Financially Empower Homemakers

Meet the Founders

Narendra Singh Dahiya studied Mechanical engineering and held an MBA degree from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi. He has experience in retail channel management in big companies like Nokia, LG, Pepsi and Microsoft. He uses technology to make every home chef an entrepreneur. With Homefoodi, he can provide them with a large market.

Dr Mona Dahiya is a globally acclaimed practising IVF Specialist. She is MBBS from the prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

What made founders start the Homefoodi app?

It started with a personal conviction of Dr Mona to make a difference towards nation-building and creating large-scale self-employment opportunities. She asked herself who needed help? She realised women often end up as homemakers, not by choice but by circumstances. This question led to another question ‘how?’ and it was understandable that preparing food is an ability of most women. Moreover, they are blessed. Further, the question led the founders to figure out the ‘what?’

Then they started research across metros with over 2000 respondents, both consumers and homemakers. As a result, 10 per cent of homemakers were indeed enthusiastic about starting a home kitchen if given a platform that addresses their challenges. Above all, help them do business. Over 97 per cent of respondents believed that home food is most hygienic and healthy. And over 90 per cent preferred home food over outside eating.

All this guided the path to the creation of Homefoodi.

Vision of Homefoodi

Homefoodi has the vision to unite India through localised home food experiences, adopting a Vocal for Local culture. Ghar-Ghar Startup is the mission of this Made-in-India food delivery application. This step will further empower every Homemaker to contribute towards building Healthy India.

According to Vocal for Local, this E-commerce startup in India provides healthy eating to their consumers and generates a self-employment platform for homemakers. Business Model of Homefoodi

Homefoodi plans to create India’s most immense employment opportunity for women to earn from home. The startups’ business model has been resilient to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. To ensure a total contact-less ecosystem of vendors, home chefs, startup employees, and delivery partners, the startup moved every dimension of their business online. This initiative resulted in the growth of the startup during the lockdown period.

The startup is creating a demanding ecosystem of consumers and the supply ecosystem of home chefs. Home chefs list their kitchens and menu on Homefoodi mobile app, and then consumers make the booking accordingly. The best part is they charge the least commission on the total orders received by the home chefs.
